Students Advancing Permafrost Research (SAPR) Fellowship

Here we describe the requirements, processes, and procedures for the Students Advancing Permafrost Research (SAPR) fellowship. 

Scope:

10 fellowships to pay for RCOP & ICCRE registration. We hold open the option to increase the SAPR fellowships, depending on the number of applicants and the overall budget.

Eligibility:

  • Graduate or undergraduate student with an interest or active research in permafrost, cold regions engineering, or the Arctic in general.
  • Registration is not paid for by a project or other program.
  • Be or become USPA student members.
  • Abstract submission not required.
  • No restriction on citizenship or country.

Application:

Provide name, school, email address, and a 150-word essay. The essay should state your background, interest in permafrost, and what you want to learn at the RCOP.

Deadline:

September 30, 2021

Procedure:

  • Send your application to [email protected] before the deadline.
  • Applications will be judged by committee and qualified students will be notified within 7 days.
  • Fellowships will be awarded based on a first-come, first-serve basis to qualified applicants.
  • Applicants that are not awarded the SAPR fellowship, applied before September 15 (end of early bird registrations), and are notified after early bird registrations end will be granted early bird registration fees.

Registration:

RCOP & ICCRE will provide a discount code waving the full cost of student registration to the successful applicants. The successful applicants then fill out the registration form and use the discount codes during check-out.
